The Court in the province of Henan to convicting the death penalty to Xu Zonghen because it has been receiving bribes of more than 33 million yuan, or about 4 million US dollars. Xu is one of the most senior officials in China who were convicted after the previous leader of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai, Chen Liangyu, jailed for corruption in 2008.
Also sentenced to death, the property of the former mayor was also seized. The Court also ordered that the rights of Xu as officials revoked.
Xu (56) was dismissed from his post as Mayor of the city of Shenzhen in June 2009, by reason of breach of discipline. That year, Xu was the technician that car, thrown into prison.
